Saint   Matthew’s   is   a   grade   II*   listed   building.      It   was   designed   by   Robert   Johnson   and   built   over fifteen   years   from   1880.      It   is   considered   by   many   one   to   be   of   the   finest   Victorian   buildings   in the   Northeast.      It   contains   a   goodly   quantity   of   Kempe   glass,   but   its   greatest   glory   is   the   building itself. If   you   are   coming   to   pray,   the   Sacrament   is   reserved   (should   you   wish   to   be   close)   in   the   chapel directly in front of the West door. If you are looking around, please be sensitive to the needs of any who might be praying. The building is also open for Mass every day; times can be found on the Liturgy page.
Please   note   that   there   is   usually   a   Mass at    some    point    during    the    day:    details can    be    found    on    the    Liturgy    page, which can be accessed here .
